Rosi - the silent queen
Rosi came to us in 2017 – an old carriage mare with a long working life behind her. For many years, she pulled tourist carriages in Alcúdia and Palma day after day, until she was over 22 years old.
32 years old, with us since 2017, died at the age of 32
Breed: Trotter
Rosi had a serious accident in 2021, sustaining a very large wound that exposed her carpal joint. My vet Maria stitched her up, inserted drains, provided medical care and accompanied us through her recovery over many weeks. It is worth mentioning again how important it is to have an empathetic and skilled vet who is always there to help when you have so many horses! THANK YOU!
Rosi recovered, found her place – and was the leader of her small herd. With her calm authority and unshakeable will, she impressed us every day anew.
She was a symbol of the dignity of old animals, of resilience – and of how a real home can change everything. On Tuesday, 7 October 2025, I had to put my old Rosi to sleep. She was 32 years old. She chose the supermoon, which suits her.
