Our vision for a better future
‘Kahu’ – a Hawaiian word meaning guardian, protector or carer. That’s exactly what I want to be for my horses: Protector, guardian of their stories, their dignity and their second chance.
For us, the horses come first. Our main goals are to provide them with a loving and species-appropriate home and to ensure that they receive the necessary medical care. We believe that every horse has a right to a happy life. Together we can make a positive change for these horses and educate people in our community about the needs and welfare of animals.

Jara - The one who never gave up
I met Jara two years ago – along with many other horses in a devastating condition. She was emaciated to the bone, completely exhausted, but there was still something in her eyes: a last remnant of will to live.
Tomas - From shadow to light
When I got the call, it was clear: it was a matter of life and death. Tomas was going to be slaughtered – his old owner no longer had any use for him, too aggressive, too skinny, too difficult, too old.
