Working together for horses
Discover OUR matters of the heart
Every horse has a story. Here we introduce you to the wonderful souls currently living at KAHU Mallorca.
Our mission for the horses
We believe in the power of community to improve the lives of horses. Through loving care and species-appropriate husbandry, we create safe havens for these noble animals. Our work is based on respect and commitment, and we invite you to become part of our mission.

Discover the diversity and beauty of our animals
Here we show you the diversity and unique stories of our horses. Each animal has its own story and personality.
Zinco - From shadow to light
Lusitano, gelding, 21 years old, with us since 2014
Breed: Lusitano
Zinco came into my life in 2014 – originally as the horse of a friend who quickly realised that her connection to him wasn’t right. She asked me to take him on. And so began our journey together.
Jara - The one who never gave up
Mare, 24 years old, with us since 2023
Breed: PRE
I met Jara in 2023 – along with many other horses in a distressing condition. She was emaciated to the bone, completely exhausted, but there was still something in her eyes: a last vestige of will to live.
Sonikete - The gentle one with the strong soul
Gelding, 29 years old, with us since 2021
Breed: Andalusian
In 2021, I came across an advert on Facebook that blew my mind. A 25-year-old gelding was offered – in poor condition, physically and mentally at the limit. The description said: ‘to be ridden by anyone.’
Rosi - the silent queen
32 years old, with us since 2017, sadly passed away in October 2025
Breed: Trotter
Rosi came to us in 2017 – an old carriage mare with a long working life behind her. For many years, she pulled tourist carriages in Alcúdia and Palma day after day, until she was over 22 years old. When she came to us, she was thin, wary and scarred by life – but at the same time full of pride and strength.
Tomas - From shadow to light
17 years old, arrival: beginning of May 2025
Breed: trotter
Sponsorship possible: 💛 Yes
When I got the call, it was clear: it was a matter of life and death. Tomas was to be slaughtered – his old owner no longer had any use for him, too aggressive, too skinny, too difficult, too old… he was brought to a riding school here on Mallorca with a pony, the pony was to stay, he was to go on to his death.
Habanero Sinia - Our ‘Buba’ with the heart of gold
4 years old, arrival: 2023
Breed: PRE
Sponsorship possible: 💛 Yes
When I got the call, Buba was very, very ill. Young, sick and without any prospects. A large Mallorcan stud farm got in touch with me and asked if I could take a look at him. So I drove there and got to know the young stallion.
Lady - free spirit with brains and charm
3 years old, arrival: September 2024
Breed: Andalusian
Sponsorship possible: 💛 Yes
Lady came to us in autumn 2024 – young, narrow, shy, unruly and with skin problems. She was offered to me by a dealer. Until then, her world consisted of a small paddock, an old gelding and a pony – that was all she knew.
Notable Sinia - The gentle giant with the clown in her heart
7 years old, arrival: end of 2020
Breed: PRE
Sponsorship possible: 💛 Yes
Notable Sinia was born on a large stud farm here in Mallorca – with a back that did not conform to the ‘norm’: a so-called carp back.
Salvaje - The joker who defies the impossible
11 years old, arrival: 2019
Breed: Andalusian
Sponsorship possible: 💛 Yes
Salvaje came to me freshly neutered. His aftercare was inadequate and his neutering scar began to fester, he had to undergo two operations on a dangerous spermatic fistula.
Bora - The silent ruler of the herd
26 years old, arrival: With us since 2014
Breed: Andalusian
Sponsorship possible: 💛 Yes
Bora is the undisputed boss alongside Zinko, her faithful companion and partner for over a decade. Together they lead the herd with calm authority and a close bond that is unrivalled.
Cheri - When trust is allowed to grow
10 years old, with us since June 2024
Breed: PRE
Cheri came into our lives in June 2024 – a beautiful, proud stallion with lots of energy and even more question marks in his eyes. He was physically healthy, but life hadn’t really given him a chance to just be.
