It took a long time before I was allowed to take her with me. And when the time finally came, the next drama revealed itself: Jara had huge hooks in her teeth – so bad that she could hardly eat. She was starving to death – right in front of her food.

With patience, medical help and lots of love, we brought her back to life bit by bit. Today, Jara is hardly recognisable: She is round, content, strong – and an integral part of our herd. Her story is a silent testimony to how much strength can still be found in a battered animal – if you just see it and give it a chance.
